Air UK Smileliner

Post by Garry Russell »

Only used for a few months and mainly on the LHR-GCI route due to there not being a galley........Air UK lease a PSA 146 for the last quarter of 1989.

Pics are very rare

In full PSA livery with Air UK logos at last one has turned up

Hi Toby

This came up in a conversation we had and ever since that I've been keeping an eye open.

I remember seeing the PSA 146 smileliners flying around California. Glad to see those smiles were not quickly wiped off there faces.

That was a temp lease for few months so painting was never going to be more than that. It was leased from BAe and afterwards went to I think Thailand so it lost that livery pretty soon after this.

I was distinctive that's for sure.

Well, at least it lives on, even if it is on a Scarebus...

Although, I'm definitely glad to see this scheme in the air again (although it would have been really fitting on one of their 737s instead of an A319 since Piedmont actually flew 737-300s before they went under)-
