Flight Model Modeller Needed

Post by SkippyBing »

Anyhow, having built an aircraft carrier and now finding myself with some spare time I've resurrected my model of the Westland Wyvern. My plan at the moment is to make it for SF/WoE as I know how to make it for that, and I can do the flight models. Sketchy74 who did the textures for the Ark has agreed to do the textures for it, time permitting, on the grounds I export it to FS as well. The only base not covered at this stage is someone to write the flight model for FS for it. I once understood how to do this badly, and have now lost all knowledge of the subject after having to learn a new PIN number for my credit card.
So anyone who understands the secrets of the .air file and thinks they could do a decent job on Westlands last fixed wing job get in touch.

At Last!!! That looks superb, I cannot help with an air file from scratch (and the Wyvern was an odd handling beast), but hopefully someone here or at the SOH can help.

Forgot to say if someone can point me in the right direction to make instruments for the VC as well that'd help! It's a bit easier in SF as you can just animate a load of needles.

do you mean 3D modelled instruments or 2D xml instruments? the latter i'm working on for another project just in terms of creating the graphics and putting the correct variable/needle rotation in... the technique doesn't work in FSX though.

That looks brilliant, best of luck with it.

Hinch, at the moment I've only got FS2004 with no urge to upgrade so it's really the 2D XML ones I'm after, which would probably just require changing the graphics files for some pre-existing gauges there not being anything that special in the Wyvern.

well i have made basic engine instruments, switches and flight instruments and even an autopilot which seems to be working thus far... i've never made any VOR or ils things but yes, it can't be hard finding some open source ones to re-design.

Hinch, I'm fairly sure the Wyvern didn't have any fancy stuff like ILS, but I've got a copy of the pilot's notes in pdf format which I can check through as it's got annotated pictures. If you're interested in being involved drop me a pm and I'll e-mail you the stuff I've got on the cockpit.
