Must admit being a little fanatical over the old 737-200 series. Primarily because I grew up seeing the type on a daily basis. Here's three of my most memorable colour schemes all of which were frequent visitors to Ringway. The (red&blue) Britannia scheme is also one of my fav's. I think that scheme is only available for the FFX model which does'nt seem to work in FSX. :sad:

This month (April) see not only the 40th of this but also the Beagle Pup
Can you imagine when they made there first flight in 1967 it would be unthinkable that something could still be in daily use that first flew in 1927......same time span :think:

Indeed it does mate. On the other side of the pond the ruskies still fly the Tu-134 with a variety of local operators. That thing is over 40 yrs old and just keeps on going. Although you'd never catch me flying in one. :huf:

I always thought the engine mountings on the early 737s was a little odd, almost as though they had finished the design and then realised they'd forgotten the engines - "Quick, scribble something on, they'll never notice"! :think:
I know it's not exactly the same thing, but it's fifty years (in October) since the Mini was designed. Still plenty of them pootling about down here in Sarf London, and I mean proper Minis, not those shrunken BMW monstrosities.
Someone had a list of aircraft nicknames somewhere that mentioned all the
differetn things the 737 has been called over the years - I had forgotten two
of them given by Britannia pilots in the late 60s
1/. Said with a Texan accent - "The all aluminum american pursuit ship
(Remember the Britannia crews had transitioned from the Briannia 102
2/. "Hoover" because of the early ones penchant for inhaling everything on the ramp
