RAE Comet 4C XV814

Post by delticbob »

Hi Guy's

This year sees the 10th anniversary of the scrapping of Comet XV814 at Boscombe Down.

To commemorate this act of vandalism I have been working on a repaint of David Maltby's Comet 4C 'Canopus', to represent XV814 in the colours she wore during her last years of service.

The actual anniversary of the scrapping isn't while August  so I shall play with it & tweak a bit more.

In the meantime I offer a couple of images. One taken with XS235, being flown in multiplayer mode, & the other taken at a well known (Dutch) airport.

If/when I am ready to let it go public you will be first to know.

Bob

BTW the images were taken on my back-up computer which does not do anitaliasing, sorry about the saw tooth edges. My main machine currently has a dislike for FS.

Hi Bob

Apart from being extensively modified XV814 was Comet 4

Hi Bob

You can still do what you wanted and use those textures on a Comet 4...just a bit of renaming and two over-wings instead of three.

Hi Garry,

Yes - I thought of that

The "COM4FUS_2.bmp" also seems to have two less windows in the Comet 4, than the 4C, so I have modified those & redone the "Royal Aircraft Establishment" wording on the upper fusilage sides. So its business as usual with the old girl.

Yep

The advantage of windows on the texture is you can move add delete or whatever.

But at least using the 4 it's the right length.
