In Search of a Captain...

Captain in command on Super VC10: G-ASGK 30APR70 from Karachi to Bahrain was a certain:

S.Aamlut or S. Aamlett or S. Hamlut or something like that according to my BOAC Junior Jet Club Log Book.

Unfortunately I can't quite decipher his writing exactly....

Do anyone have knowledge of a Captain of that name?

Talking of the VC10...I found on old friend with Google the other day...We had not met for 50 years when we were on 266 (Rhodesia) Squadron, R.A.F. He was one of a bunch of Rhodesian pilots that joined the RAF and were posted to us in Germany...I discovered in conversation with him that he had later gone on to fly the Sultan of Oman's VC10

I'm enjoying chatting with my old Rhodesian friends after so many years and look forward to meeting them for a few jars and a bit of yarning :dance:

Nigel: That is indeed harsh stuff to consume, and I'm afraid it is not for the sensitive eyes and minds around here, so the secret is better kept I'm afraid...

But despite this, I still have a small spark of hope left....

For your own and your family's sanity and health, I'm not sure you are prepared for information of that kind at all, neither you or anybody else...

It is indeed so horrifying, that it would instantly turn your hair even more white than it already is, and you might not be able to talk or walk straight for a very long time....

So only if you are absolutely certain that you want to take those risk, I will think about sharing such painful and unhealthy knowledge. And then only if the good Dr. Speedbird allows me to pass it on....

I'm sorry but it is of course for your own good.

Dan - if you are sure you are strong enough, I think that you may find it therapeutic to share your shock with your friends. I'm sure your family will be supportive. Especially as you have created this false memory of an imaginary Captain whose kindness has helped you evolve into a level-headed adult. Just cling to that fantasy and convince yourself that it is true and you'll be fine. It's Nigel's sanity that I'm worried about now!!!!!

I'm sure he'll understand as his sister was a stewardess with BOAC and she can confirm what I have told you.

I'm sure she can, actually I'm certain she can. Or should I say she ought to be able to remember such things.....But will Nigel be able to cope with it???
