...or has it become almost impossible to download files from Avsim now?
Over the last couple of months, download sppeds have come down and I now average 15-20 Kb/Sec, whereas I used to get 200-300 previously.
I have a 3,500 kbps connection but the slow speeds seem to be the rule now, whatever the time of day, and even on weekdays.
I know it's a free service, but I wonder why it has slowed down so much.
Is it just me?

Hi Calypso,
I think the reason for it could be sheer popularity plus file sizes are getting much larger. When the Glacier 2 packs were first available it was nigh on impossible to get ANY file at one point.
A lot of the 'other' sites have put a brake on D/L speeds to those who are not subscribing which probably increased the traffic for downloading on Avsim.
Just my guess anyway.....at least you know it is not 'just you'..
Regards.

Hi John
It's certainly not just you
The speeds have come down a lot as have file transfer speeds on Skype
Don't know if this is an Avsim thing or an Internet thing
I still sometimes get reasonable speed from Avsim but they are getting fewer.

It has to be their bandwidth I reckon...a download for a 39meg EC135 helicopter was 10kb from Avsim.......so as an experiment, I started to download the same file simultaneously from Hovercontrol and was getting 540kb...!! (I am on BT 8meg btw) ....took longer to extract the zip file than it took to download...
