Canberra PR.3, WF922 repaint

Post by nazca_steve »

Hello all,

following my visit to the Midland Air Museum back in December last year, I finally got around to knocking out a repaint of WF922. This is a blatant plug, but if you are into the Cranberry and have not yet been to the MAM, get down there, as Malcolm Lambert, the chief engineer has done a superb job in restoring it to its former glory from its days at Boscombe Down. Batteries work, you can operate the hydraulics and generally crawl around it. Well worth it.

The full report on its restoration has been well-documented on Les Bywaters' site here:

http://www.bywat.co.uk/canframes.html (under the WF922 section).

I should also point out it was made with the assistance of both Les and Malcolm who provided pics and history on it .The repaint (first of two) is available for download at the Pond:

As a footnote, there is a slim chance we might be getting a dedicated PR.3/7 model from Paul Foster soon, but don't quote me on that. Les and Malc have been kindly providing details and Paul is hard at work on it.

Nice one Steve, as usual. OK, it's not a PR.3 airframe but you have to work with what you've got I guess.

Some pix of the actual airframe in support of Steve's efforts.
