Stretched limos

Garry,

It was on the final Top Gear last night along with a stretched Fiat Panda and a rather odd Saab/Alfa

They weren't supposed to be 'serious' attempts for retail.. more the dynamic trio having fun with angle grinders

Ah, so you didn't catch Top Gear last night then Garry. Try and catch the repeat on Wednesday evening, one of the funniest yet!

The challenge was for each of the presenters to build their own stretched limo, the Hamster went for a seriously stretched MG-F, which actually looked quite decent! Well, a site better than Clarkson's stretched Fiat Panda and Captain Slow's Alfaab!!

It also had a great article on the new Shelby Mustang, yet another illustration of why the Americans should not criticise European engineering (the perennial Boeing/Airbus argument) until they can produce a car that can go around corners!

True.. very true.

It was a giggle. The trio were miffed that of the 9000-odd stretched limo's currently in the UK, they're all American so set about making something more European. Clarkson made his out of the Fiat Panda, James May made his from a Saab 9000 and an Alpha and the chappie who crashed a while back in that jet car made his from an MGF. Their final task (one of a handful) was to transport a 'famous' bod to the 'Brits' and the winner would be the one who got the most phots in the press.
Clarkson's Panda split (probably because he had Chris Moyle in the back!) though he won as his car was the only one to appear in the press.. albeit in his own column in the Sun

James May had Lemar in the back and kept getting lost.. Lemar got out in the end and made his own way

The other chap had Jamelia(sp) as his passenger and actually got there first.

Hi Andy

I don't have a TV and if I did I would not watch any programmes about cars.

Only about 2.5 years without a TV but up until then I did have one and I think only every watched Top Gear right through once.

Any type of sport..even motor racing or motoring programmes were an instant switch over or off.

And there are a few ..............in fact many here from other parts of the world who would not see the same TV, so it didn't twig

If you did have a TV Garry.. Sunday evenings are pretty grim. Top Gear is the only viewable material on at 8pm so I dread to think what were all going to be watching next week. Of course, you know what you'll be watching!

That was the times when I used to get the aviation videos out or catch up on the taped stuff of programmes I missed while at work. :dance:
