Ship Simulator

Post by Jetset »

I remember this being mentioned some time ago, I for one poo pooed it, but now I am considering getting hold of a copy.

Does anybody still use it and if so what's it like? Is it better than FS interms of FPS etc.

Thanks

To be honest Rich, FS has lost its spark with me. I am thinking about trying something new. Have decided to start sailing lessons, and knock private flying on the head. It's so much cheaper and more fun.

THe Website is - http://www.shipsim-secure.com for the "Ship Simulator" and http://www.hangsim.com/vs/ for the "Virtual Sailor" program.

Ship Sim would be good to hold off on for a while longer until Ship Simulator 2007 is released. Many more features. If you're more into sailing though, Virtual Sailor is much more what you want as Ship Simulator is powered craft only.

Hey Jetty

I have the "Gay Vagabond" NO jokes from the peanut gallery - there used to be a converted MTB in Ilfracombe by that name that ran tourists to Lundy Island by day and Rum from Dinard at night :)

Theres 50foot sloop on all nodes that sails like a dream in FS9 Ill find the link for you - but it really is a joy to sail

No, there aren't currently icebergs, but one major area of improvement over Ship Sim (v1/2006) is damage will be visible when you hit something and you'll be able to do more than just plod around the harbor.
