Help! Ark Royal problems!

Post by chazcozens »

First of all thanks for producing Ark Royal, she looks absolutely fabulous, but I'm having some problems actually using her in FS9!

Firstly when I type Ark into the airfield ID box the list comes up correctly, but when I go back to the Create Flight screen the listing is for Ocean Flatten (Ark Royal 1) or whichever one I've picked.

Secondly wherever I am on deck I get a building collision message. The only way around this is to turn off collisions.

I'm pretty sure it must be something to do with the way I've installed it, but I read through the instructions again and still can't see what I've done wrong (and I am a very experienced flight simmer!). Any ideas welcome!
Cheers,

Chaz

Hi Chaz.. long time no see

If it's any consolation at all.. you are not alone as I know of at least a-n-other who is not seeing it either  I've not downloaded the release version but had problems with the beta  I know the team have been emailed so perhaps they'll post a 'how to' here at some point

Morning

The ocean flatten file is to ensure the ship doesn't sit on a mountain of sea, what this is is like another airport in the same location but with no runway etc
So when selecting the airport ID ARK and you see the four of them in the airport list, but5 when selected you will see ocean flatten.

It should not give you any issues at all, this was the only way I knew how to flattern all the sea,, when seeing an ark royal on the map you will also see ocean flatten as well, it 's because the OF files have to be added to the sim as addon scenery.

I apologize I could not be exact in every measure, I could only go with what I knew, the OF files way came out early last year as a way of flattening sea round ships.

So as long as the install is correct as I said you should have no issues except putting up with seeing ocean flatten.

At this time I don't know another way to do it, down the road I'm sure someone will come up with a new way to flatten sea.

On the crash issue, I know some people are having this issue as they do have crash detection on in the sim, I have been advised there is a way round this but will take some work from the modeller, who is at sea with his flight at the moment, but I am going to email him and discuss this issue.

All you feedback is greatly appreciated,

Seaking, thanks for the reply so far. Wasn't sure whether the OF title was what I should be seeing, or whether that was something to do with the other problem. Now I know that's what it's supposed to say I'll not worry about it! On the other subject I'll guess I'll just have to be patient, but turning collisions off does take all the skill out of carrier landings!

Dave, hi, haven't been here much recently; occasionally drop in to see if someone's posted screenshots of something I'm thinking about downloading, but that's about it. :dunno:
