All this talk about Mike Stone 'leaving the field' reminded me I did a grey/white scheme for his Pioneer CC1 some time ago. A remarkable aircraft, both for real and Mike's model. It brings new meaning to the term 'STOL' as it takes off at around 37 kts with full flap!
When we lived at Benson a couple of Squadron pilots flew their Pioneers off direct from the dispersal during a BoB display, just to show they didn't need runways of any sort!
If anyone's interested I guess I could post the texture file too.
It's not visible but the airspeed in the climb-out shot is 45 kts........
As a lad I went to RAF Valley on a school trip and saw a Beaver take off into a very strong headwind. To this day I'd swear I saw it take off, "hover" for a second or two about 100ft off the ground, then slowly move off as the throttle was wound up.
After struggling to try and improve that mip business I found my graphics card was set to a mip level of 4. Turning it up to 6 improved things no end and the roundels are now as sharp as you could wish! Duh..........
I'll zip up the set and post in the next week having sorted that out.
Thanks for pointer, I'd never have sorted it otherwise.
I think '466 was a Butterworth based a/c at one time too. I often wonder how they got them out there, presumably packed inside a Beverley, it would take about 6 months to FLY a Pioneer out there from UK!
