No mate.. you definately don't need FSNav or any similar software to see where the rigs are for planning as they're all listed by selecting the Addon Scenery radio button in 'Select Airport'
I have installed a couple of the packs, and they are very nice.
However i am having a bit of difficulty with the wessex, bleeding the speed off,as i approach the hover the whole thing just starts a crazy high speed barrel roll,I am not having the same problem with the default robinson nor the hovercontrol Bell412.
I am hoping it is my settings at fault,I will have a tinker with them and try again later.
Pete.
If United were playing in my garden,I would close the curtains.
I had the same thing happen this afternoon and I'm pretty sure I know why. I was going a bit too quickly and tried to pull her backwards while at zero kts. Didn't like it one little bit though in all honesty, I've found every helicopter I've ever flown do this crazy trick including Hovercontrol models. The latest Alpha Apache does it too!!
I'm a pretty crap helo pilot anyway mate but I have managed to land on a couple. Secret is to bleed off speed early and approach at around 50kts. Approach the platform from the side and fly her on sideways when she's stable. Not easy I know and I eff it up more times than I get it right!! The Wessex will go backwards on its own for a short while (as most will) but not for long.
There is a flaw in the FS9 flight dynamics engine (imagine that) where even with P-Factor all the way off, the helicopter wants to point its nose in the direction of flight, so backwards flight at anything more than a few knots is nearly impossible.
Even that is probably too high Garry. A lot of models will start moving backwards as soon as they're off the deck and the Wessex is one. While it's going backwards and the speed reads 0.0kts, you're safe-ish.. 1kt and you're starting to get into a situation you'll not get out of unless you take action to correct it very soon. There are a lot of very talented blokes out there in Fsimland so I put it down to the fact FS can't replicate a hover very well or indeed.. backwards motion in a helicopter
