No...Garrys Correct

I was quite surprised at the difference in equipment between Europe and
the US -- the Loaches are old - the Huey archaic - but it serves a specific purpose here for mountain rescue ...In a city that has a veru high number of highway accidents you would think they would have higher numbers and more modern equipment -especially when you consider the amount of night work they do :sad:

Rob,

Did we have an Ecureuil (Squirrel) at some time?. I've got some video of one with POLICE on the side flying around my house. :think: Must convert it and put it on the website.

And then there's the yellow Lincs/Notts heli G-LNAA that landed outside a house near here to check on a car accident. Literally dodging the lamposts on arrival/departure - again must sort out the video.

From 1998-2004 we had G-NMHS, a Eurocopter AS.355N.

We now have G-NMID, the EC-135, an absoloutley brilliant tool (when it's not above your house at 100ft...)

The Police Helicopters in the UK have to bee fitted with two engines where has the US Police do not .
The POAC (Police Air Operators Cert) gives essements where by the limits for weather and altitude over a congested area are reduced (plus a load more things). But due to many helicopters operating over densely populated areas two engines are better than one

The MD902 Notar that GMP and a few other forces operate and the EC-135 are similar aircraft in that they perform the roles well, the 902 is quieter due to the Notar the early 135's T1 type are not as well equiped with autopilot and stabilsed like the 902. However coming on stream now are the EC-135T2 aircraft which match the 902 but have a better availablility rate... We are moving to the EC-135P2 in May the P2 differs in that it has P&W engines.
