This weekend I was up in Yorkshire so I decided to pop to the National Railway Museum at York.

I'm not a train spotter by any means, I haven't even got an Intercity hat, but I can highly recommend this as a day out.

Nice shots!

The A4 Mallard has been my favourite train since I was small.. I've still got a model of it that used to run around my model railway setup!

Maybe when I get a place of my own I can set up a secret dungeon and recreate my train fantasies..

..anyway! Must visit that museum when I go up to Lindy some time.

Boy the Type 37 brings back memories -- including the Great Train Robbery.
I will admit to have been to Neasden a couple of times when I was a lad -- used to love the warship class diesels (Im sure someone will tell me their real
nomenclature

Nice pictures. Reminds me that I haven't been to the NRM for a couple of years and as someone who is passionate about our railways it's a timely reminder.

BTW Leif, the Warship was mainly Class 42 and the Great Train Robbery loco was actually a Class 40, the Class 37's bigger and less efficient brother.

Now where's me anorak?

Somewhere in my mums attic are some photos taken with a really brownie
of stuff on the Harrow Wealdstone station in the early 60s including a rather twee little tank engine that the Metropolitan Line used painted purple

Some nice pictures, but I think that they should be up and running on some preserved railway!
SVR is my personal faveourite.

Thankfully they do Jonesey, Green Arrow, The Flying Scotsman, The 37 & the 55 all run, they are just resting for the winter.

They have to strike a ballance between running them for all to see in action or keeping inside and static so they last longer though.

Green Arrow has some big cracks in it because it has been run so much and will only last another year before it has to be retired to the museum permanantly.

The Scotsman, when it's back together, will hopefully last another 25 years.

I haven't been there for years! York might be a nice place for a weekend away and some photo opportunities.

Being in Notts, I assume you have paid a visit to your own local preserved line, the GCR?

I haven't yet, I really should go this summer though.

There's another one just over the Derbyshire border near where I work too. It's at Butterley I think.

Am I imagining things or was the Mallard in a transport museum in Surrey (Richmond?) in my youth, 1960s. It could be the onset of senility of course.
