I am trying to repaint a passenger aircraft as a frieghter i.e. with blanked out windows.
In the texture folder there are texture files for interior and exterior windows so I am assuming that the glass is a textured object within the model. However, applying texture to the glass appears to have no effect other, of course, than to remove the original texture i.e. a staining effect.
I've probably got something completely wrong (the whole concept of textured glass?) but any ideas or explanation would be appreciated.

Garry,
It's O. Fischer's Junkers 52. I am doing a repaint in the livery of British Airways Ltd. They used 3 JU 52s on the night mail service to Stockholm before the War and the only photos I can find clearly show blanked out windows.
The windows on the model definitely have a stained/weathered effect and this corresponds to the textures in the texture folder so it seems logical that the windows are in some way textured.
On another issue concerning this repaint, does anyone know the colours of the lettering on the JU 52 at Cosford. It seems to be a very dark blue but on some photos it looks black. The only contempory photos of this livery are black and white.
Thanks.
Pete

HI Peter
The windows are textured but they are transparent parts with transparent textures.
They are set up differently......you can't paint over them
That is why you need a seperate model..the reason I asked which model you were painting is because sometimes there is an older pre cut out window version arround of a model or an alternate.
I think in this case you are stuck unless they produce the windowless model.

try using Martin Wrights MDLMat programme to alter the model material properties, with a bit (lot) of trial and error you should be able to remove the transparency values.
