Apparently a not-uncommon problem after an engine backfire on start-up.
I was taking long-range shots at the end of the day when my son asked,"Are they supposed to do that?", as flame shot out of the exhaust on start-up. I don't normally take pictures if I think they are going to end up badly, but my fingure was already on the shutter button. So I fired off three more shots, ending in the first one above. Apart from a toasted wing it ended with no more damage, or more importantly injury to anyone on board.
I believe it is back flying again - in a different scheme?

That Venom has a Ghost engine and it has a cartridge starter (the smoke) and yes it often had a "torch start" and an astbestos blanket was draped over the tail for every startup.
The WR470 is a fake as the real one I flew a lot on 208 Squadron, was a Venom FB4. I think we discussed it before and I think this one is not what it seems
