Hi,

Thanks Toby, I'll see about doing a 1960 version from those pics.

Does anyone know if in 1967 the old runways were still there? When were they removed? The site that Toby posted shows the old runways, but I won't include them in the 1967 version (as closed) if they were torn out immediately. If they were still there in 1967 but torn out later, I could always rename this version something later.

Thanks,
Tom Gibson

Well as I can remember them being there says something allthough I cant remember them ever in use, they used to park the odd aircraft there sometimes though, I can remember an old TriStar with no engines.
The new runway 09/27 was opened in 1966 allthough the "new" airport was only opened in 1986.

Tom,

The old runways were only removed in the last couple of years. Infact if you look at some of the recent aerial photos of the uk, Multimap.com, local.live.com, Google Earth etc you can see the redevlopment at various different stages. I believe that the old airport might have been used for cross runways in poor weather for a while and for lower priority stuff like GA. There is (was) a 'link taxiway between new and old airports.

Hi all,

OK, I think I've got as much as I know. Thanks to Toby (here) and Richard (at my forum) I've got this for the 67 airport:

Image

The old runways are inactive (i.e. all traffic uses the new runway) since I cannot "force" traffic to certain runways. There are larger (medium) parking spaces at the three odd shaped parking spots off the main tarmac, to accomodate some larger and later jets. The rest are Gate Small and GA spots.

You can download this new version from the link above. You will now need to download and install Paul's VFR Landmark scenery separately:

I will start working on the 1960 airport soon.

Hope this helps,
Tom Gibson

Hi again,

OK, I've done the 1960 airport:

If you installed it before this you should download and install it again. Then create an EGGP 1960 Scenery Layer. Choose which date you want by selecting the proper layer.

Enjoy,

Hi all,

I found I forgot to add start locations to the old runways for the 1960 version. If you fly that era, download the file again (link at the top of this thread) and reinstall. The only file changed (if you need to do it manually) is the AF2_EGGP.bgl file found in the FS2004/Addon Scenery/EGGP 1960/scenery folder (NOT in the EGGP 1967 folder!).

Hope this helps,
Tom Gibson
