Question on 3DS Max versions

Post by Paul K »

Can anyone tell me what the difference is between versions 5 and 6 ? The reason I ask is that I have v5, and there is a v6 manual for sale in a local cut-price bookshop. If the differences aren't too critical, I just might get it.

Thanks as usual for any help.

If I remember correctly, the main difference was having the Mental Ray renderer built in to V6, and Reactor 2, for dynamic animations. Not much new in the modelling area.

Thanks very much, Dave. Would you consider a version 6 manual ( its one of those 'bible' ones, the size of a house brick ) a good idea, in the absence of a version 5 edition ?

Probably, as long as it doesn't dwell too much on V6's new features.

Thanks Dave. It's only going to cost me a fiver anyway, so I'll get it next time I'm in town.

Thanks again.
