I dunno what I'd put in the yard if I had the room. I figure a Sim Shed (in the literal term) would probably be most likely with a couple of cockpits that have been converted into sims. I like operating reminders of our history than seeing them sitting on the ground. Guess that's why I joined the CAF...

BTW, our neighbors down the road from the CAF and Lancaster now have 2 Mi-24Ds, 2 Mi-2s, 2 L-29As, an AN-2, a MiG-21UB, and a MiG-23 (believe it's a UT). They're looking for an IL-28 as well. All but the IL-28 are or will be flyable.

Now all they need is a longer runway for the MiGs (came in via container).

I would think building a house out of a tube liner would require a lot of air conditioning as its got to get pretty hot living inside that aluminum tube. I would much rather have it sitting on the landing gear with air stairs up to the main doors than have it spinning up on a post.

Already got one aircraft in the garden thanks....

XM172 was only on loan to Jeremy for the filming and spent a few weeks in the garden before departing to Booker. If I recall correctly, this is the Lightning now located in a garden on Kendal (after a long challenge of getting planning permission!)

The reaction of Jeremy's wife is apparently genuine as rumour has it he didn't tell her it was turning up....

Just start up the apu and feed the bleed-air into the aircon

I would be happy with just a commercial airliner cockpit section, never mind an entire aircraft.

Me too. I have the latest edition of Wreck and Relics and its astonishing how many private collectors have decomissoned or retired aircraft at their homes and estates. Two examples are A Brittania nose and A300 nose section at someones house! :shock:

Nice to see some clips from the 80s BBC 'Test Pilot' series as well. Had it all on VHS once upon a time... The Lightning bit was wearing out! The commentary said that the Harrier pilot (on his first Lightning flight) was "introduced to an alternative form of vertical takeoff"! :dance:
