Web host/domain provider advice

Post by d0mokun »

Hi chaps,

Can anybody recommend a good host to me please? I've been with 1&1, Lycos.. that's about it really. I would really like a degree of controll.. ie the ability to implement PHP/sql builds at my discretion. At the mo I'm stuck with what Lycos give me.. and even then it runs in damn safe mode. Cgi capability isn't something I rely on.

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Kind regards
Dan.

I use Freedom 2 Surf plc (http://www.f2s.com). Have been with them for a few years now and apart from the occasional bit of downtime havent got any complaints. Supports PHP and comes with a 10MB SQL database facility.

Hi Dan,

We use Pipex here and the service has been excellent. Ben can fill you in on the nitty-gritty

Hi, As Dave says we use webfusion (Pipex's web hosting company). We tried just about everybody before (and those who have been with us will tell you) Pipex seem great, and I've had no problems that they haven't been able to resolve, and a (for the virtual servers) 24Hr UK helpdesk

Thanks chaps,

All sorted now. I liked the look of the webfusion VS package, so I went for it.

Kind regards
Dan.
