Hi Garry,
I have to concur mate. The bmp I have (the one I posted) is the correct file and the only one of that name in my texture folder. The back of the Argosy looks as it should (a big green shed!!). There has to be an answer.. I just wish I knew what it was

Guys,
Many thanks for the continuing interest.
Dave - did you try it in the "empty" computer? The other option, of course, is to run the installer into a separate folder - that will give you a clean install so that you can see exactly what files the installer is giving.
Hope that this is not "teaching grandmother" - I often do it so I know exactly what files I am putting into my FS9 folder.
Guess I am also one of your pedantic sods.
Regards
John

I'm in the VC of the Argosy now and moved the eyepoint to behindGarry Russell wrote:Dave
I don't think the Argosy has a bulkhead and door behind the cockpit so if ther is a door then it will be 748
Garry
the pilots seat. There is definately a door there, offset to the port side,
in the large green bulkhead.
Also, some other elements of that VCbits file are there. The equipment
rack on the starboard side next to the jumpseat and a dummy audio
panel on the starboard overhead above the co-pilots seat as well as a
duplicate on the port side, low, next to the pilots seat.
This "VCbits" file has the same time/date stamp as the "overhead.bmp"
that definately has the Argosy's engine start, radio and electrical panels
so I'm assuming that this file came with the Argosy download.
I could did into my download archives to check but that'll have to
wait until another day.
Looking now at the HS.748 VC, it appears that the only thing that is
textured from this VCbits file is the door. There is a black, untextured
"frame" around the door .
It seems possible that a different VCbits file was created for the 748
with the door in the same area of the file layout, thus the Argosy
door works for the most part.
I know for a fact that bot the Argosy and 748 model files call out
a "VCBITS.BMP" file. It's possible that the 748 file , if it existed.
on my system was overwritten by the Argosy file, since I installed
the Argosy after the 748. I never used the VC in FS9 so I can't say
whether or not the 748 file was ever present or how it may differ
from the Argosy file.
It's not a big deal for me. The majority of the 748 is texured just
fine, and a heck of alot better than the default FSX aircraft IMO.
I'm scanning the panel and looking outside most of the time anyhow,
now that I have TrackIR4

Garry, could you send me that 748 files as well so I can compare it withGarry Russell wrote:Just checked and my Argosy looks like it should all round
The 748 was loaded after and that is OK too and a comp0letely different rear end.
I have the VC bits in FS9 texture but I have no conflict.
The VC Bits with the grey door is the 748 from what I can see..certainly looks right on mine.
The Argosy has a wide bulkhead with a smaller looking door.
I sent a bitmap to JER yesterday and that is the one that is being used on my 748 VC
Garry
the only one that I hae?

Alright.. not arf!!
Here we go then. HS748 base pack and Texture pack 1 installed on a 748-virginal system (it does have the Argosy on but a very very early beta). I don't really have room on that drive to put texture pack 2 on but interestingly.. the VC door is not textured nor are the seat fronts (the bit your bum sits on IS but the bit your back rests on ISN'T).
I've not checked the file composition yet other than noting that VCbits.bmp is not present in the main texture folder. Rob at CBF has the file dated some time in Dec 2006 which seems awfully new to me and I can't recall the model being updated. However, having just said I've not checked the file composition.. I've since done it and find differences all over the shop so something has obviously changed. File grouping is different (the new pc lists 18 continuous 748 textures.. this one reads just 12.. the new pc lists 4 $ files at the begining of the directory and this one reads 6). Some of this is probably down to Rick reorganising textures on the release model but whatever.. there are textures missing from the VC on the current set of downloadable files. The executable runs fine so I guess the missing bits are sitting on someones pc
Point is.. the flightdeck door doesn't look too bad as is and could be mistaken as being correct.. likewise, the seat back front which may explain why it's not been pulled before. A count of 748 identifiable textures in the texture folder are 37 for this one and 42 on the new system. It does seem however that more, in this case, equals less

Okey doh John
I hope to goodness the missing bits are not part of texture pack 2 (and sod's law they WILL be)
Oddly enough, I've looked around the VC on both pc's and those 2 textures are the only ones I've been able to identify. There has to be an easy explanation for it but it's not coming to me
