Yes, I think it was about FL250, pehaps as low as FL210...It was a pretty quick trip. BTW don't forget on the longer flights that the T3 was limited to FL350 with no "Drop Down" oxygen fitted for the passengers. If you want to go higher then use the T2.

Peter, looks like I'm going to have to re-think my flight planning then if that is the level you flew from Heathrow to Manchester.Yes, I think it was about FL250, pehaps as low as FL210...It was a pretty quick trip.
I now just do my flight planning from the NDB's and VORs' so what interests me in your reply was how long were you maintaining that level and at roughly what speed? I also presume during those classic years of flying that the 250kts limit below FL10 were unheard of!!

Thanks Nigel.
I used to be an optimist but with age I am now a grumpy old pessimist.

No that was to Paris CDG Nigel...Manchester was about FL140 I seem to remember. Yes, you are right about the 250 kts limit below FL100...Didn't exist...Even on the Vanguard coming into EGLL we held about 300 kts right in to the holding VOR and similar with the Trident. I just looked up some Manchester times in my logbook and the "Chock to Chock" times are mostly 45mins with some at 50 mins and the odd 40 mins. I doubt whether these times are now possible with the speed limit :think:Nigel H-J wrote:Peter, looks like I'm going to have to re-think my flight planning then if that is the level you flew from Heathrow to Manchester.Yes, I think it was about FL250, pehaps as low as FL210...It was a pretty quick trip.
