This is a particularly fine set of screenshots, Peter, and shows the wonderful detail of the 707 to great effect.

I particularly like the Narita scenery as Tokyo was a frequent stop-over for me. The atmosphere in your screenshots (functional, clinical and empty spaces) is exactly right! Being so far out of Tokyo, all the aircrew stayed either in Airport hotels or nearby Narita Town. Surprisingly, the area around Narita is rural and a mixture of wooded hills and rice paddies. Narita Town has one of the most important Buddhist temples in Japan and is a busy domestic tourist destination for the Japanese. It has a wonderful mixture of entertainment from traditional Japanese restaurants and markets to English pubs and American bars catering for the international aircrew.

I am thoroughly enjoying this voyage and feel as though I am back on a Polar trip in the 70s. I loved being in Tokyo (although in those days we used Haneda and stayed in the city) but the excitement of having Alaska as the next stop was always the icing on the cake!

Thank you

Ian

Thanks for the reply Ian and glad the post took you back a bit...I've only used Narita as a passenger and I did rather enjoy it...Passing through on the return from NZ we stayed in one of the airport hotels for the night...Our BA flight was the next day. The hotel room looked out over one of the busy aircraft parking areas and I spent some hours just sitting in the window watching
