Using the Chippie to test new scenery (56k warning!)

Post by VEGAS »

Hi all,

the VFR scenery I purchased to accompany FSX arrived this morning and I have to say its very good. First test flight today to test it out was in the beautiful little Chippie.

I don't think I'm gonna see the missus this weekend!

Setting off from EGCC. You can see 24R and 24L in the distance

Heading towards the moors, just passing over the M60

Towards Yorkshire now, the beginning of Saddleworth moors

Over the tops - its so peaceful!

Just a little aerobatics to scare the passenger!

Low on juice and the weather closing in, its time to head home

Thanks for looking.

Cheers Garry, first impressions are good. The FPS if anything are actually lower using this stuff, I think it automatically gets rid of the nasty auto-gen scenery which is one of the worst culprits for slow performance.

It shows in night time too, although the street lights are missing! :k:

Early days yey

A few months of tweaking and upgrade patches should push it forward

At least with that sort of land scenary you have a chance of a good ride

Full International airports in large cities are something else, but you fly where you enjoy it most and this is ideal Chippy territory.

Lovely shots Eddie.

I've been trying the the FSX demo and I'm surprised that I rather like it.

I see from your shots that the menus are visible which seems to happen after you hit Alt. What annoys me is that they don't disappear afterwards. :k:

Does anyone know how to get rid of them?

The other minor annoying thing is the new ATC window. Why did they put a frame on it? And if you reduce it's size you get scroll bars. :tuttut: Why is that an improvement?

Blimey, you only just got her to say 'Yes' and she's a FSX widow already!

Great pics, by the way.

Cheers Chaps,

I use this view as I prefer to access the menus quickly rather than having to press ALT key to bring them up.

For some reason I get better FPS using this method too. :dunno:

Jon if you prefer full screen with no menus then press ALT + ENT keys to get the full monty.

All you have to do is hold the alt key down for two secs and it disapears. Alt Enter in FSX won't make a difference.

Thanks Ben, that's what I was after.

Now I've just got to work out how to hold down the space bar, move the mouse and use the joystick at the same time.

Hi Ben

Alt - Enter is still the same as FS9 and toggles between Window & full screen.

Regards
Rick
