What sound card?

Post by Effoh »

Gents,

I'd appreciate your thoughts and advice.

I currently have an Audigy 2ZS sound card, and despite having used the kx drivers have experienced some of the problems associated with it. So, I am thinking of changing it. I have looked at the X-Fi series, but they seem as beset with problems as the one I have now.

Are there any other decent 5.1 soundcards out there, and if so, what?

Id go for the HDA X-Plosion. Its basically the same as my X-Mystique but it can output DTS 96/24 as well as Dolby Digital via the optical out, works superbly with my Z5500 speakers.

Sound quality is equal to, if not better then the M-Audio Revolution/

I'm running the X-Fi and have, to date, been more than happy with the result.

I also use the X-Fi and find that it's a great card.

I've got a Cambridge Soundworks 5.1 kit that's about 3.. maybe 4 years old.. and it still holds it own against newer kits

Though I may upgrade it soon...
Dan.
