Trees...
Well this post was really supposed to be devoted to trees as I've been doing some work on them recently...I started off to just move one tree that the President's aeroplane kept clipping as it taxied by...Locating the exact tree to move, in a 76 page XML file proved a little daunting, but I got there in the end and moved it to safety. Then I got to thinking that I might do something to improve the other trees and that took a day...Anyway, I'm rather pleased with the resulting more variegated colours of my pine trees and here are the pictures:-

Peter - you have now joined the elite who have their own arboretum as well as their own airfield. Those trees look wonderful in their various shades of green, you've done a fantastic job. I assume that in Alaska they are all evergreens, but can you imagine the work you'd have to do before Autumn if McLeland Field was in more temperate climes?

Well I do have three Willows and two Palms in my small garden outside the office, but I did no work on them. I have 31 different models of Pines and strangely I did not work on the colours to get those effects...Basically I worked down each of the models and merely turned them on the ground by six points of the compass away from the previous one (very nautical but one point is 11.25 degrees). The idea was to prevent identical models looking like repeats. All 32 points of the nautical compass were used and every pine tree had its direction changed (that is one hell of a lot of trees)...BTW..I just paused to count the pines in the XML file where they are all planted individually...There are 707 pines
The variegated colours are just a curious byproduct of this mathematical rotation process

I've always been conscious of apparent co-incidences. For instance the phone number of the main taxi company in Harare was 707-707 which meant that aircrew could always remember how to get home however drunk they were.petermcleland wrote:...BTW..I just paused to count the pines in the XML file where they are all planted individually...There are 707 pines
But they are not really co-incidences. We are all part of a giant experiment managed by a race of highly advanced alien beings. Only a few trusted humans, such as myself, are aware of this. These co-incidences are intentionally slipped in to gauge our intelligence and those who are deemed superior will be given rewards and allowed to breed with superior females (such as the BBC's Kate Silverton).
In this case, Peter, I can reliably inform you that, in order to receive such an award, you are required to insert the HJG 707-336C BOAC Cargo aircraft into the AI traffic at McLeland Field.
But don't let anybody else know I told you.

Ian,
That gave me a good laugh...There are some periods during the day when the jetways are not occupied and I could just slip that BOAC 707 in there...I don't actually have one, so a pointer to a download would be useful

Hi Peter,
I think the one Ian is talking about is by HJG and should be available here.. http://www.simviation.com/hjg/downloads.htm

I knew you couldn't resist! Dave is correct and here also is a link to the main page of The Historic Jetliners Group, run by our own Tony Madge.
http://www.simviation.com/hjg/main.htm
There are plenty of BOAC aircraft to choose from. The BOAC Cargo model (a Tony Madge repaint at my request!) is listed under 707-320C. You first need to download the base pack for the relevant model and then the texture separately. The panel, sounds and effects are also separate downloads at the bottom of the main download page.
I'll send Kate a text to let her know

Thanks Gents...Got all the bits downloaded and will put it together tomorrow...Then I'll fly it around for a bit and construct an AI Traffic version...Only one Cargo slot available so I'll have to make sure it doesn't conflict with DHL
