Help request please...

Post by CBris »

...pretty please...

Has anyone got, or knows where to find, some plain white maps for the chippie - well, only the exterior skin texture.

I am only asking so that I can save time...

Yes, I am a lazy sod, but there's no harm in asking

Please don't start painting the unfinished Chippy.

I already have a load of modified propeller textures on the outhouse.

It's identical to the paintkit that was released 3 years ago so why the sudden need for people to get hold of it ?

the model is a work in progress which means it's not finished.
I don't want painted textures turning up yet as nobody knows what i am releaseing.

Regards
Rick

OK Rick, I'm just experimenting with some of the stuff I tried for the "9" version. If I have any success, I'll send the stuff to you for cross reference first. Thing is, I never found a white skin for the "9" version either, and my first attempts were rather poor.

Here's one model I like a lot already.

I promise no uploading

Hi CBris

You asked about painting the Chipmunk the other day and I told you.

So why ask again?

Hi Chris,

A paint kit is not necessarily an all white model. Ideally you need a paint program that can deal with layers etc, such as Paint Shop Pro, or Photoshop... even "The Gimp" the freeware program is quite goood.

Hmmm, I use Corel PhotoPaint, and I have tried to reduce the yellow to white, but I lose too much detail for my liking.

The bitmap from the model is only a single layer, so the ideal version to work with would be the yellow skin. Like I said above, I was just being lazy. I know you can "wash" out colours so that they appear white, but then you have to touch up things like the roundels and numbers. It generally ends up like a dog's dinner - and I have seen some repaints which really do look grotty.

I don't like spoiling a modeller's work by not producing my best, that's why I always try to work with the modellers.

And like I said, I am experimenting for now. I have just seen the RAS 260, and the way they have worked has inspired me.

Hi Chris

I will send you the paintkit once i get a bit more done.

There where also other questions that i did not answer.

No to glider Tug as it's pretty pointless in FS as you can't tow anything up
& in my view the Super Chipmunk is a travesty of design.

to do this needs a complete rebuilt VC & External model which is not what i want to be doing.

Rick

Ah, sorry, I didn't make myself too clear about what else a Super Chippie can look like...

Try some of this and imagine modelling a plane with fireworks instead of smoke...

or thie:

Or simply search "super chipmunk" in Google - it's a very popular aerobatic plane too. It has been used for towing simply because it has ooomph, loads of it.

But of course - in a sense, you are so right about it not "belonging" to the "classics" genre.
