The first... had to divert there as the weather was not good at Brize... got to 200' on an ILS and couldn't see a thing. Manage to get back into Brize yesterday after holding in the overhead for ages.

Tonks
Gutted. Wish I'd seen you or at least the Aircraft. I was patrolling there yesterday at about 1100hrs. What time where you there?

BTW were you in this?

Sorry guys, I didn't mean to be obscure. The story's a few days old but I was referring to the news item that had the Bishop of Southwark apparently climbing into someone else's car while allegedly under the influence of too many pre-Xmas glasses of something warming - at one point he was claiming to have suffered from black-outs.

S'cuse me for my ignorance Tonks but don't you have an auto-land fitted?

Correct me if I'm wrong but read some years ago (many years ago) of the auto-land being tested on the VC10........One problem that was experienced was that the VC10 did not raise its' nose for the flair until the very last minute prior to touchdown which caused a lot of uneasyness.

Did the autoland ever feature in the commercial era of the 10?

PS Going away. Back next week for any replies. Merry Xmas to all!!

Regards Nigel
