Yep, I fell for that one too. So excited at knowing the answer and caught up in getting it posted quickly that I’d neglected to take into account the fact that I’d have a spot of homework to do if I won.

Dave, sorry my picture's only really of the nose of VZ608 but I found it tricky to take one of the whole aircraft as there's not much space to do so.

Hopefully it does go some way to illustrating your point though. She's certainly very well looked after at NAM.

Garry,

Do you know, I think you might be right there.
It may even change emphasis from a 'guess the aircraft competition' to a 'guess the flight deck competition'.

That particular aircraft is absolutely stunning.. apart from the lump on it's back!! :tuttut: She has a different nose to the standard Meatboxes of the day and really does look a thing of great beauty.. to me anyway  I'm sure Alex will post a full size pic of the old girl so you can see for yourself

Surely it's a standard FR9 nose Dave?

I was SO tempted too!! I could have asked for the component number but that wouldn't have been in the spirit of things would it

OK.. I found a couple of Alex's Meteor 'nose on' taken a couple of years ago when she was in the original hangar. See what you think..

Sri I missed your post Andy. You may well be right about it being a standard FR nose mate. I'm not au fait with that particular marque.. only that it's a lot nicer (IMHO) than the 'standard' fitted on fighter versions
