PD Lanc?

Post by Right-Lane »

Does the PD Lancaster have better framerates than the JF one? The JF one is unplayable for me, simply switching views is agonizing. I am ok with the DM fleet for frames. I am downloading\purchasing the PD Lanc right now hoping its better.

I'm quite sure it is!
I have only the Wings of Power's Lancaster, but I know that the JF is so "full of VC" that I suppose it needs a very powerful PC to work!

I can't comment on the AH/JF Lancaster, as I didn't feel the need to get it as I already had the superlative Lanc from Plane Design. I can't recommend it enough, a truly wonderful piece of work and not heavy on the frame rates at all, imho.

Concur with the previous two comments. No experience of the JF Lanc (though it may be kicking around here somewhere) but I can say that the PD model runs just fine on my old XP2400. It's flight performance is 'within the markers' and the visual model is bang on. I'm not struck on the way it looks with 'aircraft reflections' turned on but Ed likes it that way and it's his model! The 'reflections' issue is my only problem with it but it doesn't stop me flying the old girl

This should really be in Payware but I'll leave it here now

Yep, the PD frames are ok on my machine. I am sofar pleased with this lanc. I was surprised to see that they used the same 2d cockpit on both, hoping that they would have a better looking one. I normally use 2d such as the dc3 one. I like the look of that one. Nobody has attempted a photo 2d cockpit for the lanc? Anyone know of any others to choose from? But anyway, its all good and I really enjoy all the aircraft to fly!

thx Ken

Ken..

Ed sold the rights for his panel/gauges to be used on the JF Lanc hence the similarity

I agree that a photoreal panel would be the doggies. I added a photoreal glareshield window pillar and upper section to mine but it's not like having the full works

I have the PD Lancaster, and their Lancastrian too, and have never had a moment's bother with frame rates. Can't comment on the JF one as I don't have it.

I have both the PD and JF one, and in all honesty, having the PD one already, I wasted £25 on the JF package, particularly with the commonality of exact models (why did JF have to model the same examples of Mk II, B I etc - ok, the specials are special, but for the everyday models...).

Me too, I wish that I got the PD Lanc first and could have been flying that since august. Ive been so busy that I have only taken a quik flight and landing in the lanc, at night too. I live 10 minutes from the abbotsford airport(CYXX), so I usually base myself there. DaveB would it be possible to see a screen of your panel mod? I really like the way the original vintage planes of FS9 have a weathered look to them.
