having managed building scenery, airports and even a paper airplane i'm having another go at photo scenery as i think i know what the problem was before.
i'm pretty sure i read the maximum scenery resolution for fs9 is 4 pixels a meter - is this correct? now the tricky question really is...what altitude do you have to be above an object for it to become 4 pixels/meter? i've tried all sorts of sums but not having touched maths in three years (i don't even have a calculator for doing trigonometry) i'm a bit stuck
if anyones done this before that would be just dandy
pixels/meter - what altitude?

No one can do maths any worse than me
I would have thought that the resolution of the image was a fixed figure. So I am puzzled by your comment about what height you would need to be a for it to be 4 pix/m, unless you mean 4 m/pixel.
If you look in the Gallery's section there is a thread running called "Amazing Photo Sceneries". The chap being taked about has done some high resolution sceneries for the LA/San Francisco area. Link to his site here http://www.blueskyscenery.com/
He says the default scenery resoltion is 4.7m/pixel, where as his high resolution stuff is 1.3m/pixel, which gives a pretty impressive view from low altitude, but looks the read thing from higher up.
I'm affraid this type of thing is beyond my understanding, to I take my hat off to anyone who can do this.

I can fly now with my fantastic new PC
ooh, yes i got this the wrong way around it's 4meters per pixel in FS9.
the reason i ask what altitude gives this resolution is because i'm using google earth, for some odd reason i didn't mention that and my above question makes no sense. it should be simple, i could really just figure it out in 10 seconds if i knew the distance! i'm doing a small island and i can find no numbers on how long or wide it is.
