Viking Fuel Gauge

Post by DaveB »

Yo Team..

It has been brought to my attention that the fuel gauge window may not (read doesn't) display on all systems (this will apply to the Varsity and Valetta too). Reason being the panels were not really ever finished :worried: All is not lost though. :wink:

Go into the panel folder for your Viking (might as well do the Valetta and Varsity while you're there) and copy the Viking.cab (Valetta.cab/Varsity.cab) to your 'Main' gauges folder. You will now find that hitting the 'fuel' icon will bring up a fuel panel :wink:

Hi Dave, i tried this on the viking (i don't have the valleta and varsity) and it does't seem to work, selecting the fuel icon does nothing.

Dave,

The viking.cab is in both the main gauges folder as well as the aircraft panel folder.

I've just had a look at the panel cfg, there appears to be no entry for a fuel window just these:

Window00=Main Panel
Window01=Pedestal
Window02=Radio Stack
Window03=Nav 2 radio
Window04=GPS
Window05=Overhead Panel

looks like i have a differnt version of the cfg?

On a seperate note, what are the best sounds available for the viking?

EDIT>>>>>>
Sri.. missed the engine bit. I honestly don't know the heritage of my soundset mate. I have a feeling it is off the MAAM B25 :shock: I like the pops and bangs it makes on idle :lol: There are a set available over on Classicbritishfiles.com specifically for the Hercules done by Mark Cranston which I downloaded last week but have yet to try :wink:

Thanks for that dave, i don't know how, but this is the version of the panel i had: Built Saturday, August 23, 2003 at 15:34 Build:16969

seriously out of date! looks like i had the default panel which came with the aircraft, and not the updated one from classicbritishfiles.com :doh: :doh: :doh:

I couldn't find the hercules files at classicbritishfiles.com but found some at avsim.

Hi Richard,

No problem mate :wink: The date on that file you had is likely to be the last 'original'. From there.. nothing really happened. We all presumed it had been released then found that Rick had forgotten all about it :shock: Not sure if the same happened with the Valetta too but it was typical that the model started last (the Varsity) was the first one totally finished :lol:

The date on my cfg just shows I fiddle with it still :-$ :poke: You may find your 8-day clock now displaced a little as I changed the bitmap slightly to increase the clocks size. I can barely read it now but its better than it was. If anything doesn't look quite right and you're not sure how to fix it.. I'll send you my panel.bmp. It's not vastly different.. just tidied a little :smile: I looked at that fuel panel again today and its not quite right still. The window needs to be pulled in a notch to stop the gauges looking squashed. Will take a look later and pass on the relevant line to change in the config for you :wink:

Just had to stop myself going mad, i checked if the version of the panel on classic british files was the one i had originally, it was so if you downloaded that version you will need to use the cfg you posted.

All seems to be ok now, apart from the clock which isn't lined up with the backdrop (higher than it should be) Haven't had a go at editing yet.
