I got the Deluxe version half price on e-bay. Runs ok-ish, usually 25 fps but can drop to 10 or below at airports, even with a lot of stuff turned off/down. It's ok but not brilliant but I am dissapointed that the terrain seems to blur at a fairly close radius and I can not find a tweak to do anything about it.

Whose got it then?

I'm in no hurry. I'm really enjoying FS9 at the moment. I want to see how FSX pans out with Vista and DX10 as I intend buying a new PC next year anyway.
I don't claim to be an expert, but I've been reading a bit about DX10. Apparently it is so advanced that it is not backwards compatible with DX9. A separate version of DX9 will be loaded in Vista for older software requiring it. But to gain the full benefit of DX10 software (i.e. FSX) it will be necessary to have a specific DX10 graphics card. I think there are only one or two available at the moment.
If I read it right, then upgrading to Vista and DX10 alone will not release the full potential of FSX. One would also need a new generation graphics card. I'm sure somebody more knowledgeable will come along and say this is b*ll*cks - in which case I humbly concede

Got it, loaded it, couldn't see the benefit cos I got lousy fps so unloaded it.
Then I saw it on a friends PC running a nVidia 7950GX2 with GenerationX mesh and scenery and it blew my mind!!!!!
So if you've got £400 to spend on a Graphics card and £90 for Mesh/Scenery its great!!!!
(a 6800 processor with 4GB of RAM also helps)
Regards

I have the release of Vista on a disk here and am wondering whether to install it as my XP is a bit stuffed. Been running this version of Vista at work for a week but haven't thought to look what version of DX is installed. Maybe monday.

It runs good on my P4 @ 2530 mhz. Dunno about FPS over 20, but I get around 17 FPS most of the time.
When I upgrade my box next year then we will see
Been trying to fly some of my all time favorites in FSX to compare and so far so good. Minor problems with gauges not working (FSX does not support FS98 gauges) but replacing the panel (alias) does the trick for now.

I've got it and don't rate it at all.
Doesn't seem to look as good to me as FS9 on my system but has far crapper frame rates, my PC's not that slow but it still stutters where FS9 ran like a dream.
I've got a 3.4 P4, a gig of ram and a Geforce 7800GS. Not great but it should run without being a slideshow.

Here's an interesting article on what improvements DX10 will show over DX9. It should be quite an improvement - but the graphics card issue is still not clear. Nobody seems to know whether DX10 cards will be high-end (read: expensive) when they come out or whether we will be able to get cheaper ones immediately or wait until they filter down.
