John I use Asv6 and have NO problems - it mimicks real life very well, as to you comment about North South routings and "getting bounced around" IRL in winter thats what happens - I spent this morning building flight plands from Florida to the NE US (Its my job) and the crosswind components at altitude
were anywhere from 35 -80 knots and the shear components (on the flight planning system we use it grades shear level from 1 - 15) were 8, 9 and 10s all along the route meaning it was pretty bumpy for our pilots this morning flying from Florida - where as the crews traveling from Las Vegas east were getting into the Jet at about FL330 and having a smooth ride - so yes thats
realistic if thats what your getting on FS weather. On ASv6 I find that i using the smoothing funtion doesnt make it as wild and uncontrollable as FS Weather.

Cheers

Hi fella's

Say, Dan,, How do you like FSMETAR ?. I need a new machine in order to make things pretty but it occurs to me that thing's like wind and fog would be great in the direction of "making it all more real". Is a weather program of this sort a CPU Pig?. Also, is there Scenery that is FPS friendly that I can down load?

Sorry for the multi part question but it just dawned on me while typing here.

Thanks............

FSMetar is very good and is very easy on the CPU.

Sceneries....there are a lot:

Personally I use realitypack1.2 (from AVSIM) combined with aquarama (AVSIM) for my weather conditions.

For sceneries in general I use AVSIM, flightsim and http://frettenflat.nl/fs2004.php mostly. I have as a overall scenery used
reprosetup, but combined with specific sceneries here and there.

Underneath it all I took the time an downloaded all 9 GB of the global 76 m mesh available from simviation.... this mesh is also supplemented with various special meshes here and there. Holger Sandmann is a name that is good to know. So is Yohann Baptiste. I started out by replacing many afcads with the packages from PAI-AFCAD, and overtime replaced some of them again with more specialized....

But I always do a Google search first when I'm seeking a new scenery. There might be that odd one out there, not available from the normal sources, I've had my luck more than once ;-)

Sorry I can't pin point some specific sceneries, but over the years I've collected a lot. I have this habit that when ever I'm bound for a new destination I go seek for new sceneries for my destination. So over time my folders get filled ;-)

I guess many simmers has done more or less the same thing.

One thing though, I have never used one payware product, although tempted once in a while. I know some have bought payware additions to their sim, and many of them a quite good. But for payware I'm not the one to ask. Freeware I bet I can find any small thing that might enhance your flight experience ;-)
