I'm waiting.
I thing I'll be waitng for long time!
I don't want a new PC, I don't need a new PC! I've just bought a new Macintosh.
I'm considering a license for ultralights in place of a new PC plus FS X, not the same price, but not so far and more pleasant!

Will not bother as for the time being more than happy with FS9. May even wait that bit longer for FSX+ to come along instead!

Well, I'm sticking with FS9 for a while at least and possibly permanently. I just don't see too much in FS X for me and I suspect I'd need a bigger and better PC. (Especially after trying the FSX demo - arrgh!!!)

I guess to have really got me enthusiastic they'd have had to do something dramatic to ATC but I've got Radar Contact now and that does the bus as far as I am concerned. It just looks like too much pain for insufficient gain at the moment.

I waited one month to make sure that I understood the situation, then I bought it. I decided it would probably only drop £20 over it's whole life, and I would get £20 of value between now and next October when my machine is due an upgrade.

Autogen switched off and default AI replaced for World of AI and all seems well. However, I've not moved any FS2004 aircraft over to it - the plan being only to have FSX designed aircraft in there.

I really do hope object instancing in DX10 will improve the Autogen situation.

It does seem to have been designed with developers in mind - there is now a common texture folder for each aircraft, so no aircraft textures need ever to go in the main textures folder! You can also store your aircraft on a second hard disk, 'cause the location of SimObjects is controlled in the fsx.cfg file. (If you really want, you could rename airplanes to aeroplanes too!)

Enjoying it so far, though it was frustrating to begin with.

Cheers,

Despite the bad write ups the demo got I didn't get round to cancelling my pre-order and so became the owner of FSX.

It was not a happy start - FS9 outshining the new boy on the block at every stage. I have mellowed in my view and have upgraded FSX from 'total rubbish' to 'has possibilities'. Still prefer FS9 but am trying to get FSX to act in a reasonable fashion. Total hours on FSX so far is 52 - FS9 is 3 x that over the same period.

Latest laugh - Aden is underwater most of the time. Having spent a year there, that is probably the best place for it.

I am looking forward to the patch for FSX - I reckon it will be one heck of a download. Meanwhile I will continue the frustrating task of trying to get decent frame rates on my humble 3.4 GHz, 2GB RAM system - perhaps santa might bring me a spare Kray computer from NASA????

Hi Dave,

Might just do that mate. Feel a little frustrated that all my add-on's may not work though

But you don't have to stop using FS9 just because you have FSX

Indeed. I remember when (sigh) FS2004 first came out and I was more than happy with FS2002. I kind of made the transition over a period of time.

I'm more than happy with FS9 at the moment and I have it just right for me, what with all my add-on's and the like.

I am hoping patches will be released over time to accomodate the FS9 extras. But that might be wishful thinking as developers may well wish to focus on the current (money making) simulator.

Need a Yes I've got it but it's not great category.

I got the Deluxe version half price on e-bay. Runs ok-ish, usually 25 fps but can drop to 10 or below at airports, even with a lot of stuff turned off/down. It's ok but not brilliant but I am dissapointed that the terrain seems to blur at a fairly close radius and I can not find a tweak to do anything about it.
