Whose got it then?

Post by VEGAS »

Hi all,

Been asked if I want a copy of FSX for Christmas. Seeing as I'm happy and quite content with FS9 and all the add-on's I have purchsed over the last couple of years, I am reluctant to get it just yet.

System upgrades are'nt an issue really as I have recently got a new decent spec machine.

Viewing the comments on the forum, it seems quite a few of us have it and quite a few have'nt.

So whats your thoughts on FSX at this moment in time?

Got it at the beginning of the month. Bit disappointed at first, but after some tweaking I'm very happy with it.
25+FPS with most sliders set middle to high, but little AI as that really kills the frame rate. This is on a 2.5GHz P4.

Only using FS9 for testing now.

I found my category was not there but I voted waiting a while

I need to get it to make future projects compatible, but I can't afford it yet and as I don't get time to fly FS9 as it is I don't particularly want it

But there ya go :dunno:

Hi Guys

Same as Dave G.

got it on release and couldn't believe how slow it performed.

spent a few days tweaking it then bought Horizon Generation X 1m scenery and love it. 25 to 50 fps and pin sharp.

Not touched FS9 for 3 weeks and will only fly fs9 to test models now.

there are too many little bits about FSX that make it far better for me.

Regards
Rick

Hi Rick,

It doesn't really say much when after buying it, you then had to buy another prog to get satisfactory FR's (and this for a limited area as I understand it).

Eddie.. if it's coming as a crimbo pressie, then take it. If it doesn't perform to your satisfaction.. at least you won't be out of pocket

We need a choice for "Yes I have it, and a lot of the tweaks are almost making it bearable"

I won't be getting it untill I have a PC that will run it well out of the box. It sort of goes against my grain to have to finish the work they started (as in having to spend hours implementing tweaks and mods) AND pay full retail price.

I'm waiting. Maybe a long time. This coming summer, I'm building a pair of very very fast machines with a lot of ram. One will be my new Pro Audio machine and one will be for siming'. Both of these operations need speed and a lot of ram. I wont be able to afford the VERY latest CPU's but they will be pretty quick... I need to see what happens with the whole AMD-vs- Intel thing too.. I've always Liked AMD stuff and I like the company..

So, long story short, I'll be waiting and even after my fast machines are up and running, I might stick with FS9 for all the great ad on stuff that's out there for free. We'll see.
