Dan's Super is getting all the glory around here. My beloved Standard wants a look-in  G-ARVB climbing into the sunrise from Kilimanjaro.

Great shots....and marvelous weather conditions...

One Q though: Why do you still have flaps down at that height?

Ooh! What a bitchy lot of old queens

OK, then.

1) Flaps. Kilimanjaro is 4,000 feet above sea level and the air is thin. So I wasn't as high as wot you thought I was. Also I was in 'pocket rocket' mode doing a steep climb at about 3000 fpm at 160 kias.

2) Lights. a) Intentional choice of turn off lamps instead of landing lights because they flooded the runway. b) There are a lot of very tall giraffes in Amboseli Game Park. You can't be too careful. c) I was below 10,000 feet. d) I don't fly for the VA so I'll do what I like and e) It looks good.

3) Weather Conditions. The weather's always good on my PC due to the fact that it's waiting to be superseded and won't run clouds

4) Garry's very pleased.

5) Bugger - forgot the cat

Ian

OK.

Regarding 2a: That can be taken care of by some very useful add-ons just blow the whistle..

Regarding 2b: Giraffes 4000 ft tall... ...come-on....anyway using landing lights in these conditions would prove more useful, as the strength of the lights would paralyze the Giraffes, and thereby make them stand still at least till you'll get above them.

Regarding 2c: 10000 feet is the upper limit of turning them off, you could very well do it just over the 1000....

Regarding 2d: anarchist!

Regarding 2e: agreed!

Last time I flew low over Kibo peak on Kilimanjaro it was at a little over 19,000 feet

However, we did use a bit of flap to loop at altitude in the Hunters
