Not a cloud in the sky...

On my way back from a meeting yesterday I thought I'd do what I'd done so many times before and drop into Tangmere.
As I approached the village I heard an unmistakeable sound, one that's thrilled me since I was a boy... a Hawker Hunter. It flashed from right to left, then climbed into the rich blue until it was a mere dot. Then it and that sound were gone.
But what hadn't gone were the memories of childhood and the thrill of reading about men, like Neville Duke.
For yesterday was Neville Duke's funeral and the Hunter's flyfast a symbol of all he'd acheived and all he stood for. I have to say I shed a tear.
Lest we forget.
