The Javelin has alway looked (IMHO) that it was carved from a solid billet of iron. First time I saw one (at Boscombe) I couldn't get over how big it was

Nice one John.

My dad had the radio transcript of this crash

http://www.ejection-history.org.uk/PROJ ... _David.htm

for a book he was researching,(he was the first fire officer on the scene)

Sqn Ldr Dick gives a constant running commentary right down to the point of ejection (actually the chase plane pilot tells him its' time to go)
talk about being cool under pressure.

here's a bit more

I wonder if thats the same Sqn Ldr Dick who was based at Eastern Radar at RAF Watton in the 1970s ? I believe he was a Wing Commander by that time...just a thought.

Could be, but I found out that most S/L's and W/C's were Dicks

He'll definitely remember Phil Stevens then, without a doubt. I'd be interested to know, Leif, if you can ask your brother.
