One of those Flight Sim moments

You know the sort of thing; a combination of great scenery, a favourite plane trimmed to perfection, your hand rests lightly on the throttle while your ears are filled with roaring piston power. The view is spectacular, the clouds as wispy as you could hope for...and for one fleeting moment, you are there. Gone almost as soon as it arises, that sudden immersion which transports you from your computer to that cockpit half a world away.

This evening was such an occasion, in the Cal Classics C-46 over Glacier Bay V2. For one brief instant, I was truly there !

I know just what you mean.Although I don't yet have glacier bay,I just know that feeling. Also I love that C-46.This morning I flew the Level D B767 from Gatwick to Edinburgh.departing at 06.15 BST.The light was superb.I know that there is no direct comparison to an old classic piston powered machine but it was still a magic moment. What an absorbing hobby.ATB EricT

Hi Gevers

The VC comes with the model by default...and I'm wondering whether you have the same model as myself.

I've just been to the California Classics site and clicked on the C-46 download link. Although the preamble refers to the new GMAX release by Libar Guzman, Greg Pepper and Tom Gibson, the link takes you to the C-46 by Wayne Tudor and JR Lucariny. :k:

The C-46 I have is that by Messrs. Guzman, Pepper and Gibson. It has a VC and is available here:

Cheers for the link Paul. The a/c from CalClassics doesn't have the VC right enough - got one now though. Sadly I wont have time to try it out as we're away on holiday tomorrow for a week. A week without FS9 ...

Well the one I have is the Cal Classics one, at least its the one thats described...but the link from there points to the older release.

Gevers, I can only sympathise. Given the choice between a week of virtual flying and a caravan in Prestatyn, I know what I'd settle for. Its only seven days, mate.
