Attention Rapide Pilots..

Hi Guy's,
John and I have just added 2 new route structures for the Dh89 based on the year 1936. You can now fly the Croydon-Glasgow mail run.. Croydon-Birmingham-Liverpool-Newtownards-Glasgow
plus the East/West IOM run.. Leeds/Bradford-Manchester(Barton)-Blackpool-IOM. Links now exist between Barton and Liverpool as well as return flights from the IOM to Carlisle, Newtownards and Glasgow.
I've decreased the number of aircraft at Glasgow from 3 to 2 as there are now 3 in place at IOM and Leeds/Bradford. In addition, there
should be 3 aircraft at Liverpool (though one is off station and has been so for weeks!!!!!!!!!).
Two aircraft are now based at Shoreham and can be used for the Shoreham-Liverpool route calling at Bembridge/Soton/Birmingham (for now). I hope to move this to Shoreham-Bembridge-Soton-Bristol-Staverton-Birmingham in the not too distant but I need to be careful as we are starting to eat up our current numbering system :shock:
Croydon is now linked via Shoreham so with the current route structure, it is possible to cover/transit the whole of the UK by Rapide

Further excursions from Shoreham to Le Touquet and a-n-other French destination are possible.
Fuel prices along the new routes are good.. the only exception being Birmingham so keep your fuel tight to get the best income. By this, I don't mean you leave the aircraft with 5kg in either!! :-$
Before anyone asks.. it does seem that the East coast was particularly poorly covered during pre-war/war/post war years so locals to these areas will be going to and from work by train
Oh.. before I go.. Croydon is freeware and the one I use is part of the VLA (Vintage London Airports) package. File is vla.zip and should be available at all major outlets. Look out for a texture update too

Dave, the Rapides are all currently set to be based at any of EGHC EGMC EGGP EGJJ EGPF EGPA.
Would you prefer certain aircraft to be based at single airports?
The fleet stats display those EGKA ones as if they were away from base.

So should we set certain Rapides to be based at one airport only, like the Viscounts are?
It would make it easier for pilots to know exactly what should be where.
If so, can you list the regies of those based at Shoreham, Liverpool, Glasgow etc. & we'll leave the rest as is.

Hi DM..
Yes indeed.. a rock and a hard place. I asked for 6 new Rapides and got 8 and in reality, 4 more would have done!! :roll: The new aircraft living in the IOM and Leeds were registered to be the actual aircraft used on that route so I'd like them to stay there. As for Croydon.. I have 2 aircraft there to run the Mail Route though these in effect could be changed at Liverpool
or Glasgow depending on maint requirements and likewise.. the 2 aircraft I have at Shoreham may be exchanged for Liverpool based aircraft for the return. However.. unless you physically dive into the ground instead of using your wheels.. all of the routes can be flown with low maint numbers.
It also helps to return an aircraft from whence it came but in the absence of that, here is a list of current 'revised' bases..

I've changed the bases on our database.
So only ACYR is now showing as away from base on the fleet stats page.
Base is Croydon, but it's at Kirkwall.
I've left ACPP as it was, so it has multiple bases for the time being.
If you ever want any of them changing just let me know, it's no trouble.
When you change that ALXT reg, it will also revert back to a multi base aircraft. I'll keep a lookout for that & change it back to EGMC.

Talking of which.. has life begun at 40 for you yet or is it much the same as it was the day before

EDIT.. I have ACYR currently at Shoreham (EGKA) not EGPA (Kirkwall) mate?? She will move up to Croydon soon mon ami

Hi Simon,
Indeed it does mate and annoyingly, the cost of gas doesn't correspond to what it would do real-world. I fly a lot around the CI and gas at Jersey is some of the most expensive I fork out for. It's slightly better at GCI. From memory, some of the cheapest gas in the UK Flynet world can be got at Manchester (1.11??). LHR isn't too bad (1.24??). Compare this to 1.67 at Jersey :o
To make the best money (and profit for you) out of each flight.. it pays to check the fuel prices along your route so that you can 'tank' at the cheaper airports (that is.. take more than you need of the cheap stuff so you'll need to buy less of the expensive stuff). Fuel prices can generally make or break a flight so a little homework will pay dividends ;-) Back in the days when our multiplyer percentage was at 300.. a flight from LHR to Cyprus in a Trident 3 would make over $10m. Taking the same amount of fuel at Cyprus for the return would see around $7.5m and that's a LOT of money ;-)
