Garry

I found a still from "A hard days night" the whirlwind appears to be painted in the all red colour with red square logo - the chap in the right seat appears to have a white helmet on (????) and a BEA uniform

anyway heres the LONG link http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl= ... %26ad%3Dw5

Garry - one thing I do notice in the photo - the engine cooling intakes below the cockpit look like they are "lipped" where the model shows them as a flat surface.

yes I know Dave

I was just making passing mention - the photo in the link shows the helicopter from low and right forward which makes the missing lip on the Alpha model very noticeable - I was wondering if Garry could create a "shadow" along the upper edge to make it look more plausiable NOT that He had missed anything on his paint - frankly Im unimpressed with it as payware, but thats just me

Hi Leif

The lip and the different grill arrangement does make it look a little different.

Ah yes...........it's this one  (WIP)

I can't change the uniform..just hopefully the colour although I've not found the texture yet......well actually not looked yet.

Hi Leif..

No.. the S-55 will not go down as one of Alpha's 'Greatest' I'm afraid. It does fly well and it fills a gap but when pitched against some of Alpha's recent releases.. it does fall a bit short. There are no landing lights either so even with a freeware alternative, it couldn't be used for VA ops without incurring a fine on each flight! :k:

Not to beat this to death - But sometimes a little vindication to an old memory of a particular helicopter - NFH was stashed in Autair helicopters hangar at LTN in the late 60s - I remember seeing it and the cooling vents in the nose had been bothering me since the first time I saw the Alpha
model

So my memory didnt deceive me :)

maybe the folks at Alpha needed a little more research>????

BTW the photo IS GANFH as she remains today it also shows quite clearly the extra supports on the windshield that gave Whirlwinds that segmented look :)

I haven't got a clue what version the Alphasim is supposed to be but there are variations on a them in real life. A few pics here show one version without the scoops
