My guess is, that the first it actually had to "go into action" you'll have to replace it all, brakes, blade etc. etc....
But then again, it would be a fair price to pay for sparing a hand or finger...
Yes, it is pretty cool, let's hope that the chip always does what it is told....

My father in law...when he was a lad on his first job at a saw mill was using a small bench circular.
He slipped felt a dull pressure......at that time no pain and that was it the top part of a finger was gone.....so easily done
This would have prevented that sort of accident.
All the old guys in the mill and the place where they sharpened the blades all had various bits of fingers missing....they just accepted it.

I knew a guy who sliced his thumb straight up the middle
all the way to the palm
the doctors fixed it , but it didn't take and they had to cut it off
But he told me they gave him the thumg in a jar
with a clear fluid in it so he could take it home
I geuss so he wouldn't have to worry about it getting infected
I think it cost him about 80 grand
plus the the therapy and pills :k:

OK, let me get this straight..the device has already taken a chunk out of you before it activates...the blade is quickly retracted, the teeth damaged..so that's an expensive blade trashed.... :roll:
There is only one safety device needed when operating tools of this nature..
....it's called a 'brain'.........
Anyone, including the guy operating the saw in the video, who doesn't use proper guards, push sticks, jigs, power feeders, etc...deserves to lose digits.
There is no reason for hands to be anywhere near running cutting blades...or at least not without something solid between your precious bits and the blade.
I've been a wood machinist for many years and I haven't lost anything yet.
This gimmick is for people who shouldn't be allowed anywhere near the machines in the first place.
