Hi Guys,

I've just installed all the GenX stuff with all the boxes ticked. The sizes I get are lower than I was expecting :-

Vol 1. 20.6gb
Vol 2. 20.6gb
Vol 3. 20.4gb

Do these sound about right?

In a word James.. Yes. :huf:

The saviour of FSX that is GenX makes my install run worse than it does as standard. I've read every 'Stutter' thread I can find on the Horizon forum from the famous 'change your setting to 7' to 'try this graphics card.. I got mine for only £285'. Moving to 7cm gave me my first ever BOSD and I'm not prepared to fork out £285 on a new graphics card.

Been happier mate.. been much happier.

Hmm...

Is it stuttering due to disk access?

The patch should be out soon. Let's hope they can sort some of the issues out. Saying that, mine isn't too bad for the machine it's running on.

Hi James,

I honestly couldn't say mate. The disc is a brand spanking new WD Sata2 500gb unit that was newly installed on Sunday.. formatted to NTFS then had FSX installed onto it. The only other things on it are GenX  FSX on it's own doesn't run too bad at all (though this seems to have slowed since installing FSUIPC4). When flying in GenX areas, I get massive stutters when panning which get progressively worse the longer I fly hence, all GenX areas are now deselected. I've spent all day doing VA flights in Fs9 flying over the UK with UKVFRPhoto and UKVFRTerrain and while the definition isn't as sharp as GenX, it runs very smooth on this system.

As you say, a patch is due for FSX at some point in the not too distant so let's hope many of the current bugs are eliminated
