Presently have FS9 with no wish to upgrade to FSX at the moment.
Went to the Just Flight website and looked at their FS Scene Vol 1 Europe & Africa - FScene Volume 2 - North & South America - FScene Volume 3 - Asia, Australia & New Zealand. See below.

Thinking about getting these, does any-one have them and are they any good or would I be better off spending the money on something else?
Regards Nigel.

In a similar position (so this going to be no ruddy help!), another option that I have been thinking about is the Ground Environment 2006 / Pro pair of packages over at Flight1 at £15.60/£26 odd.
They are basically replacements for the standard auto texture sets. Pro seems to add the ability to set up textures based on the average weather conditions along a particular flight route (an excellent opportunity to confuse me by the looks of things), and you can upgrade from the standard with a voucher that effectively refunds the cost of the base package.
I've seen comments that, as it replaces the basic auto textures, there is no frame rate hit, but then apparently the textures can look a bit quilt like from altitude. But then I've always thought that about the standard textures at nose bleed inducing heights, so I tend to keep closer to the deck anyway.
Confusion and inertia will probably lead me to do nothing until the day after none of the above are available. Pretty much what happened with the recent offer of FSX. I managed to save 100%! - but now am wondering how to burn the plastic on an upgrade of fs9 instead.

Thanks Allan
Now I think you have confused me more than I was already!!
Think this will be done on a toss of a coin, that way I can't blame anyone should I find that it is not what I thought it would be!!
Will not be going FSX until maybe next year, that leaves the question of how much longer will FS9 be supported by free-ware and pay-ware?

I aim to spread the confusion - it helps me to feel that I'm not alone - and anyway I blame it on 24.92 years of cruel and unusual punishment - which reminds me I'd better get SWMBO a card pronto. :argue: :whip: :axe:
I just found the following link. Doesn't look too bad to me, ok you can see repeated texture blocks if you really look for 'em, but even I'm not that sad (too often)!
Could be the perfect anniversary present for the old girl.

Nigel, if you a 'better than FSX ' sim, then buy Flightzone 02 Portland. It only covers a smallish area of the USA, but it looks VERY real. Also the France VFR with autogen are very cool and all look better than FSX. Niether of these products hits FR's like FSX
this is Portland
and the cars and trucks do move, smoothly unlike FSX.

Thanks Trev, will have a look at those.
Can you supply a link for that and also would like an area that covers Europe as well as the whole of America.

how much longer will FS9 be supported by free-ware and pay-ware
There a stll freeware people who are not going to FSX yet eg Tom Gibson of CalClassic
As for payware, that will probably stop sooner, but the existing stuff will be available on the likes of Ebay as people start to dump their non-FSX-compatible versions when they move to FSX.
Although I did quite well in January snapping up bargains, it has slowed down now. Maybe no one else is upgrading
