I have had a few emails both for the Tiger Moth and the York asking about the ground textures I use.

Well actually these textures were the main reason for posting the 2 shots as they really add to the realism in my mind to the scenarios. I use FS2004 and saw that there were replacement textures available (fsxgrdtx.zip by Gamalier Padilla).

But I saw with dismay that they only worked in FSX... :crying: So, not to be outdone, I downloaded them and saw that the files were DDS of course.....with the use of a little freebee utility it was quite simple to modify these to bitmaps which I did. I initially chose 32bit but then I tried 16bit and could see no discernable difference in quality.....saved a teeny bit of space on the file sizes...

I think you will agree, the difference to M$ defaults are streets ahead and are worth the small effort involved.....all thanks in the start to Gamalier Padilla.

Sorry Leif....typo  The file name is fsxgndtx.zip. I got mine from all nodes busy (flightsim.com) just put the file name in the search bar or indeed the author Gamalier Padilla.

The conversion can be done with Martin Wight's dxtbmpx utility (if you haven't got this then search on Google and it will pop up). From download to conversion took about 90 seconds.....

Just back up the FS originals first....just in case you don't like the new textures.

Regards.
