Reminds me of the Short Belfast when it became civil and one of their biggest customers were the RAF who chartered them often :dunno:

Exactly Garry. To axe the other Transports in the mid '70s was justified, as overseas bases were closing down, but the Belfast was the one Transport that the RAF SHOULD NOT have been denied.

It could still have been in service up until the arrival of the C17 (or A400)

Anyway, we don't yet know exactly what FRA will use the PR9's for (if, indeed they do) but wouldn't it be ironic if it was something like..........reconaisance? :think:
