Gas prices was too high obviously... Or I was a bit greedy....

Rule of thumb said 71000 kg for a 8 hour flight with 7000 kg spare.

Bought 57000 kg
Used 53000 kg on the flight
Ended up with 17200 kg on board....

But the income didn't exceed the cost so there you have it....

Not much to do about that I think.... you win some you loose some...

Ah

But as you say it's swings and roundabouts.

Just recently there were some absurd extra earnings but it all averages out.

Fuel price at your departure point (MYNN) is 1.74v$, it does not get much higher than that. We should remember to tank up before flying into Nassau Intl. And Dan, what possessed you to do that flight at 1x, I would have been bored out of my mind.

Yep.. fuel was the key. Income from tickets.. $68034.. cost of fuel $122,388. Even with cargo income, there was no way you were going to make that up unfortunately. I've never come across fuel that expensive before so Joe's advice is sound.

Joe:

As it is the longest of all the VC10 routes, I thought it was appropriate to do it at x1 being the first time it was flown....silly me.

The bonus would have been good though!.

I should have tanked while in Mexico....

I wish I could fathom Konny's logic behind his fuel pricing - it DOESNT
bear any resemblance to the real world - I picked up fuel in Rock Sound (Where IRL fuel has to be barged in from Miami at a horrendous cost) for 1.07 a liter !!!! Not in anyones dreams would that be the case - I have offered a real world price index for most of the US and Mexico and some parts of Canada as the that list sits next to me every night at work (we use it for tankering equations) But Konny et al dont seem intertested - Im sure someone Like CB in the industry over in the UK could lay hands to the same thing for Europe

It is odd Leif and no mistakin'

Kirkwall (not exactly the back of beyond but you can see it from there)..v1.21
Dyce..$1.21
Glasgow..$1.37
Islay..$1.26
Campbeltown..$1.44
Inverness..$1.34
Stornoway..(the back of beyond)..$1.13
Benbecula..(the other back of beyond)..$1.30
Edinburgh..$1.12
Sumburgh--$1.36
Jersey..$1.67
Norwich..$1.29
Leeds..$1.32
Some of those prices seem reasonable but why Glasgow should be $1.37 and Edinburgh $1.12 is beyond me. Likewise Stornoway at $1.13!! It'd be interesting to learn how these calculations is done. Jersey, though a tax haven has to have fuel tanked (from France I presume) so $1.67 isn't unreasonable but Guernsey is only $1.38. Southampton.. where a great deal of fuel is refined has a cost of $1.55!!

Shurely Shome Mishtake

Fuel to the CI comes from the UK

I don't know if it's still the same but Air UK always fuelled at LHR not Guernsey

The fuel was too expensive in GCI as it was taxed where as it was tax free at LHR

It was also a lot cheaper in Jersey but I don't know to what extent..

In Guerney marine fuel was tax free but not Aviation fuel

There could be many local variations due to taxes
