Project Fokker F28 released

For those who may not have seen it mentioned on the 'Project Fokker F28 Screenshots' thread, the aircraft is now available for download from Avsim, or Project Fokker.

The model looks wonderful, and there are some very nice effects - the 'heat' from the engines is superb.

I am however having trouble getting it to run smoothly. Even though my frame rates are showing around 65, the sim is very juddery. Is anyone else getting this?

Regards

Kevin

Runs very smoothly on my old clunker Kevin.
Very little fps impact if any.

65 fps!? What model Cray are you running?

Thanks John,

I've tried posting the problem on the Avsim forum, but even though I registered, when I tried to post the message it asked me to log in again.

The problem I have is as follows.

On starting the sim, viewing from outside the aircraft, everything runs very smoothly.
If I switch to view from the flightdeck, the juddering starts even though the frame rate is still reading around 60 to 65.
Switching back to an external view does not stop the juddering.
As an experiment, I aliased the F100 panel to the F28. No problems were observed.
Could this be a gauge issue?
I could try dissabling each gauge indivdually to see if I can track it down.

By the way, my current 'Cray' is

Athlon 64 X2 3800 AM2 CPU with 2 x 512KB cache, overclocked to 2.4GHz!
Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe nForce 5 Motherboard
NVIDIA Geforce 7900GT 256MB PCI Express Graphics with TV-Out and DVI
2GB Gskill PC2-6400 DDR2 Memory
Antec NSK4400 Case
Enermax Liberty 500watt Power Supply
Seagate 320GB 7200.10 hard disk with 16MB Cache
High Definition on board 8 channel surround sound
Windows XP Home SP2

Hi Kevin.

Ok, I'm just shooting from the hip here.

Outside view is Ok. Problem starts when you switch to the cockpit view.

Keep in mind that switching to cockpit view loads up a different set of sound files.

These stay loaded which may explain why the problem remains when you switch back to external view.

Have you tried the old "trick" of setting the sound card acceleration to BASIC?

Control Panel : Sounds and Audio Devices/Audio/Advanced/Performance.

Not sure this is possible with on-board sound, but worth a try.

Hi John

Thanks, I tried this but with little success (sound accelaration can also be accessed from DXDIAG).
I also tried aliasing default B737 sounds to the F28, but still had the same problem.
Aliasing the F28 panel to the F100 cases the problem with the F100.
Could it be anything to do with starting the sim with engines already running?

Cheers

Kevin
