Nvidia woe's

I have AMD 64 x 2 4200+, nVidia nForce 4 PCI-Express mainboard, 2GB DDR RAM with a 256mb Nvidia 6800GT Graphics card. O :crying: n board sound.

Have been running FS9 with no problem for months with up to 8 x AA.

Now the game crashes if I turn the AA up above 2x. Manifests itself as I switch between views (full screen/windowed) or when I try to escape. Screen goes tiled or I get a translucent instrument panel and the screen freezes completely.

I have updated graphics card drivers and the Nforce 4 drivers.

Any ideas welcomed.

Sounds like something iffy with your graphics drivers....

Usual thing is to get latest graphics & motherboard drivers and then re-install latest DirectX 9.0c.

Run FS9 on Nvidia 6800 AGP and Nforce 2 board without any troubles but only running 2 x AA.

Other option is to do the reverse and fully uninstall the old g/c drivers (until your system boots up with the generic SVGA driver) and then reinstall the old ones you knew work. I dont see the point of continually upgrading the drivers unless you have abug that needs fixing. Moe foten than not they seem to introduce new bugs!

Have updated all my drivers and also tried going back to older ones that worked in the past.

My prefrence for minimum acceptable for quality is 4 x AA so running at 2 x would be a real compromise.

In the FS9 Read Me it mentiones that Nvidia motherboards with onboard sound may require updated BIOS - but that's a whole new scary world.
